If you’re searching through contractors and having a hard time distinguishing one from another, you need to read this interview. See what makes Certified Heating and Air Conditioning different. Concord is a city full of contractors but few have the amount of heart you’ll find with owner, Bryan Arlaud. You have options when you need maintenance service, replacement, or repairs, read this interview to see what sets Certified apart from the rest.

Q: Alright, let’s get started. Bryan, what’s your experience in this industry?

A: I got into heating and cooling service in the footsteps of my grandfather. He learned his skills in the army and I always looked up to him as a kid. I used to help out in his sheet metal shop making the fittings and duct work you find in homes. I was satisfied in the work and energized by helping people so I moved on to installation for several years and then started doing service and sales work. After managing, I thought I wanted to have a shop of my own and follow my grandfather in the American dream of owning my own business.  All in all, I’ve been doing this for over 23 years and still learn something new every day.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: Changing people’s lives makes me excited to get to work each day. I like to make people smile. It all reverts back to great service, the better we take care of our clients the better they take care of us.

Q: What’s one of those moments that really makes you feel appreciated in your job?

A: It’s an amazing experience to meet someone that is in need of comfort and provide it to them with a smile. When people tell us, “WOW, you really did change the feel of the home and made my life better”, and our whole team feels awesome.

Q: Time for a tougher question. What’s the most difficult problem you’ve solved?

A: I’ll never forget Mr. Gearhart, an elderly client that passed away, and the difficult furnace issue he had. I’ll never forget the phone call from his wife letting me know he’d gone. When we first met, he told me, “Now son I don’t want to be taken advantage of again by one of you fast talking service guys”. I couldn’t help but chuckle and tell him that I’m just here to fix the problem. Long story short, he’d had five other guys out to look at his 10 year old furnace and no one could figure out why they only had heat in the morning. It was so weird, his unit would come on and heat the home and the magically stop working. Everyone told him to replace it but I wanted to fix it. After an hour, I found a timer attached to the 110-volt line to the furnace. Guess what? It was set to power up in the morning and turn off in the afternoon! This was how the old furnace was set up because they couldn’t work the thermostat. I rewired the power and it worked great afterward. Mr.Gearhart was so happy he called every day for a month to let me know it was still working.

Q: What makes you different from other companies?

A: We are not looking for a short-term relationship. Most companies are one hit wonders, they come to your home, sell you some stuff and leave usually never to return. Our philosophy is to earn the client’s trust and then continue to carry on a relationship. We are not just heating and Air guys, we like to provide a whole house solution that improves your quality of life.
